With the release of Speak Now (Taylor Swift's Version), many Taylor Swift fans are back in their anti-John Mayer era, if they ever left at all.
In the event that you're not state-of-the-art on Taylor Quick's discography — or are as yet reviling Jake Gyllenhaal's name as you impact "Very much Well (Brief Adaptation)" — it's generally trusted that the Speak Now separation ditty "Dear John" was expounded on the "Gravity" vocalist, who dated Quick from 2009 to 2010 when he was 31 years of age and she was 19.
If the new lyrics to "All Too Well" are as follows: "You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine." And that made me want to die," Swift fans wrote in the comments section of Gyllenhaal's Instagram in November 2021. Imagine their reaction when they were reminded of the chorus from "Dear John"
There is a reason Swift called the song the "most scathing" song she has ever written, and Taylor Lautner, a former Swift friend, joked that he was "praying for John" in advance of the reissue.
